Mexico’s industrial production fell 1.3% year-over-year in March 2026, the same decline as in February and slightly better than market expectations for a 1.5% contraction. The construction sector remained the principal drag, contracting 6.2%, driven by drops in building construction (-8.1%) and specialized construction activities (-2.4%). Manufacturing output also declined, down 1.0%, pressured by a 10.4% fall in the production of electrical accessories, household appliances, and power generation equipment. In contrast, mining output rose 6.0%, supported by a 45.7% surge in mining-related services, while the utilities sector posted a modest 0.2% gain. On a seasonally adjusted basis, industrial production decreased 0.6% month-over-month in March, reversing the 0.4% increase recorded in February.
