Estonia’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.3% in June 2026, down from a four-month high of 3.7% in May, marking the slowest increase in consumer prices since April 2020. The deceleration was mainly driven by falling prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.5% vs +0.9% in May), clothing and footwear (-6.2% vs -3.9%), and household goods (-0.5% vs +1.5%). Prices also declined in several service categories, including recreation, sport and culture (-0.2% vs +4.2%), restaurants and accommodation (-2.0% vs +3.2%), and insurance and financial services (-7.2% vs -11.1%).

By contrast, price pressures remained strong in housing (7.6% vs 5.4%) and transport (7.5% vs 10.4%), reflecting higher electricity, natural gas, gasoline, and diesel prices. Costs for alcoholic beverages and tobacco also rose further (8.9% vs 8.1%), partly due to excise duty hikes and increased tobacco taxes. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.5% in June, the first decline in six months, reversing a 0.4% increase recorded in May.
