01.04.202613:00:00UTC+00Brazil’s Manufacturing Slump Eases as S&P Global PMI Climbs Toward Growth in March

Brazil’s manufacturing sector showed signs of stabilization in March 2026, as the S&P Global Manufacturing PMI improved to 49.0 from 47.3 in February. While the index remains below the key 50.0 threshold that separates contraction from expansion, the latest reading indicates that the pace of decline has slowed noticeably.

The move from 47.3 to 49.0 suggests that conditions in Brazil’s factories are edging closer to neutral territory, after a period of more pronounced weakness earlier in the year. Although the sector is still technically in contraction, the narrowing gap toward 50.0 could signal that pressure on output and new orders is beginning to ease.

The updated figures, released on 1 April 2026, will be closely watched by investors and policymakers looking for evidence that Brazil’s industrial activity may be approaching a turning point after recent softness in the manufacturing cycle.
