31.03.202609:07:19UTC+00Slovenia Inflation Rate Eases to 4-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Slovenia eased to 2.5% in March 2026, down from a four-month high of 2.9% in February, marking its lowest level since November 2025. This moderation occurred despite a sharp rise in oil prices driven by supply disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East. In response, the Slovenian government has temporarily capped fuel purchases at gas stations nationwide and reduced fuel duties for a 14-day period to contain surging petroleum costs.

Price growth slowed across several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 3.6% in February), housing and utilities (5.8% vs 10.7%), information and communication (2% vs 2.1%), health (4% vs 6.1%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (1.6% vs 0.9%). At the same time, deflation in transport prices eased, with the annual rate improving to -1.1% from -2.3%.

On a monthly basis, consumer price growth slowed to 0.2% in March from 0.6% in February. Meanwhile, the annual rate of harmonized consumer price inflation declined to 2.4% from 2.8% in the prior month.
