European equity markets were set to open largely unchanged on Tuesday, pausing their recent decline as traders weighed a fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel, following an agreement by both sides to halt mutual attacks. Attention was also turning to the European Central Bank’s upcoming policy meeting, where policymakers are widely expected to raise interest rates in response to persistent inflationary pressures driven by high energy prices. At the same time, investors were awaiting Germany’s April trade and industrial production figures for further insight into the region’s economic prospects. In corporate news, British pharmaceutical group GSK is reportedly in talks to acquire oncology biotech firm Nuvalent for more than $9 billion, according to the Financial Times. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures were flat to slightly lower.
